Indie Finances GCAP talk - ABNs, GST, invoicing - how do we do this stuff?

Kathy was honoured to present her talk about Indie Finances at GCAP 21 with the help of Live Booleans Alex Ferrabetta and Kosta Canetselis who created pixel animations for all the actors.
Logo saying Live Booleans with Kosta and Alex, showing pixellated images of Kosta Canetselis and Alex Ferrabetta.
The voice actors were: Arthur Ah Chee (Interrogator), Murray Curtis (Sol Trader), Anna Bailes and Ben Sims (Partners A and B), Emmanuel Mouille (Director of 7D Games Pty Ltd), Kathy Smart as an ATO officer, and Adam Dowley as an ASIC officer.
The sound engineer was Michael Gackle.

PowerPoint slides for the GCAP21 talk have been converted to a pdf which is 1.8MB.  The slides are designed to be read in conjunction with the talk.

Notes:
Although Australian businesses have to keep their records for 5 years, their accountants have to keep their tax records for 7 years.
Costs listed in the slides were correct in September 2021 but have already started to change.
There are extra slides at the end which have information which wasn't used in the talk.

Here is the original talk that Kathy gave at the Adelaide Game Dev Talks with the help of Seamus Mullins (Interrogator), Murray Curtis (Sol Trader), Anna Bailes and Ben Sims (Partners A and B), Emmanuel Mouille (Director of XYZ Pty Ltd), Kathy as an ATO officer, and Adam Dowley as an ASIC officer.  Michael Gackle recorded the sound.

We discuss legal entities, tax liabilities, how to invoice, and most importantly, how much everything costs!

Unfortunately poor Seamus had no microphone and is very hard to hear.  The GCAP talk above has updated costs, better sound, and much better PowerPoint slides.

I created a PowerPoint game called Death Or Taxes... must decide in 2014.  I have taken it down because the Indie Finances Talk is more up to date.
