Subtractive Synthesis

This is a screenshot from the game. 6 knobs on an oscilloscope form 2 triplets. They have digital numbers above them. Each triplet has a sign beside it saying: VCO: Amplitude, Frequency and Phase. These knobs all feed into the top green wave. A cassette player feeds into the bottom green wave. A play and pause button is at the bottom.

This game, made by William Newman and Kathy Smart, won the Adelaide Global Game Jam prize for best programming.  The theme for the game jam was "Waves".  William designed the game, made an oscilloscope, and made the oscilloscope UI art, over one weekend, programming everything in C.  Kathy leaned over and said, "William.  You need a story."  She wrote the mystery and added James Whistler's art.  Both William and Kathy provided voices for the game.
A room has plugs in the walls with cables running between them and to a strange combination of piano keyboards. This is labelled synthesiser. An empty chair stands in front of the synthesiser.

.The game has its own website at https://subtractivesynthesis.site/index.html.
